Strawberry–Banana–Orange Smoothie (Fresh Navel Orange)

A bright, thick smoothie built on whole navel oranges instead of bottled juice—so it tastes clean, fragrant, and naturally sweet. Frozen strawberries give it a sorbet-like body, bananas add creamy richness, and a little yogurt is optional for extra tang. Blend the oranges first so everything turns silky with no fibrous bits. Perfect for a fast breakfast or post-workout snack.

Total time: 5 minutes

Yield: 2 large servings

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (about 300 g) frozen strawberries
  • 2 ripe bananas (freeze for a thicker smoothie, optional)
  • 3 medium navel oranges (or 2 large), peeled; seeds removed
  • 1/2 cup (120 g) plain yogurt (optional)
  • Pinch of fine salt
  • 1/2–1 cup ice (only if fruit isn’t frozen, optional)
  • Splash of cold water as needed to blend (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel the oranges and remove any seeds; pull off any thick white pith you can easily grab (a little is fine).
  2. Add oranges to the blender first and blend until completely liquefied and foamy, about 20–30 seconds.
  3. Add frozen strawberries, then bananas, yogurt (if using), and a pinch of salt.
  4. Blend on high until thick, smooth, and glossy. If it stalls, add a small splash of cold water and keep blending.
  5. If your fruit wasn’t frozen and you want it colder/thicker, add ice and blend again until the ice sound disappears and the smoothie looks uniformly creamy.
  6. Pour immediately. It’s best when it’s thick like melted sorbet and smells strongly of fresh orange zest.

Notes

For extra thickness: freeze peeled bananas in chunks. For more protein: use Greek yogurt or add a scoop of protein powder (you may need a splash more water). For a sweeter smoothie without added sugar: add 1 pitted date and blend with the oranges first. Storage: best fresh; if needed, refrigerate up to 24 hours and re-blend or shake well before drinking.
